Darren, Greg, and I hosted a Chocolate Tasting Party on January 29th, 2005, complete with some thirty different samples of chocolate and some yummy homemade chocolate desserts. We tasted the chocolate samples blind and scored them on an overly-pretentious scoresheet (including things like finish and mouthfeel). Who knew that something so fine as chocolate could taste like "licking a floor after it's been cleaned" or "corrugated cardboard"? Few had the stamina to taste more than a dozen or so different types of chocolate, and even champion taster Pru only managed twenty. Purely in the interests of science, therefore, Darren and I forced ourselves to try some of every remaining sample one evening later that week. I have now given chocolate up for ever Lent.
